Theory



Dan-Gun Tul

Chon-Ji Tul and relevant terminology

Front snap kick from parallel ready stance, beginning with right leg moving forwards, followed by middle section obverse/reverse punches (whilst forming a walking stance. Use knee spring on reverse punch)

Moving backwards in walking stance with low section outer forearm block, (using waist twist) followed by reverse punch (using knee spring on second technique with shoulders full facing - 4 times)

Three Step Sparring: Sambo Matsogi

Power Test
    a) Side Piercing Kick using footsword







Dan-Gun has 21 movements. Meaning: It is named after the holy Dan-Gun,
the legendary founder of Korea in the year 2333 BC.

Ready posture for Dan-Gun is Narani Junbi Sogi

The four blocks used in Dan-Gun are -
    a) Kaunde Sonkal Daebi Makgi: Middle section knifehand guarding block
    b) Najunde Bakat Palmok Makgi: Low section outer forearm block
    c) Sang Palmok Makigi: Twin forearm block
    d) Bakat Palmok Chookyo Makgi: Outer forearm rising block

The two stances used in Dan-Gun are:
    a) Gunnon Sogi
    b) Niunja Sogi (side is dictated by which legs holds the most weight i.e. back leg)

Punching position for Dan-Gun is: High section (level with eyes)

Inside Block- An Makgi
   (Defined as any block which exposes the inside of the opponents body to counter attack)
Outside Block - Bakat Makgi
   (Defined as any block which exposes the outside of the opponents body to counter attack)

Terminology for -
a) Back fist- Dung Joomok
b) Knifehand- Sonkal
c) Knifehand side strike- Sonkal Yop Taeragi
d) Elbow- Palkup
e) Strike- Taeragi
f) Belt - Ti
