Toi-Gye Tul

One step Sparring: Ilbo Matsogi
    Attacker - Advancing with hand & foot attacking moves. Alternating sides
    Defender - Replying with appropriate defensive blocks/moves followed by counter attacks

Power Test
    a) Choice of kicking techniques. One leg, 2 boards
    b) Side Piercing Kick, Turning Kick or Reverse Turning Kick (Chosen by examiner)
    c) Knifehand Strike (Choice of inward or outward)
    d) Elbow Strike (Choice of side)






Meaning of the colour red: Danger, warning both opponent & wearer to
exercise caution & control

Toi-Gye has 37 movements. It is the pseudonym (pen name) of the noted
scholar Yi Hwang (16th Century A.D.), an authority on neo-confucianism.
The 37 movements of the pattern refer to his birthplace on the 37th degree
latitude & the diagram represents 'scholar'.

Ready posture for Toi-Gye is Moa Junbi Sogi 'B'  (Closed Ready Stance 'B')

The new blocks used in Toi Gye are:
    a) Kyocha Joomok Najunde Noollo Makgi - X-fist Low Section Pressing Block
    b) Bakat Palmok San Makgi - Outer Forearm 'W' Block
    c) Doo Palmok Najunde Miro Makgi - Double Forearm Low Section Pushing Block

Terminology for:
    a) Dwijibun Sonkut Tulgi - Upset Fingertip Thrust
    b) Opun Sonkut Tulgi - Flat Fingertip Thrust
    c) Moorup Chagi - Knee Kick

Must be able to describe & demonstrate all movements in Toi Gye
