Self Defence Techniques:
Hosin Sool Kyon Bon
Students must demonstrate practical self defence techniques utilizing any combination of blocks, releases, locks, sweeps, throws & strikes

Self Defence A (Defences against hand attacks)
     Against a straight non-uniformed punch
     Against a 'haymaker' hooking punch
     Against a double push

Self Defence B (Defences against wrist grabs)
     Single wrist grab from same side
     Single wrist grab from opposite side
     Two wrists grabbed from front with both hands

Self Defence C (Defences against grabs)
    Escape from a single collar grab
    Escape from a double collar grab
    Escape from a Rear bear hug (over arms)

Self Defence D (Defences against chokes)
     Escape from a front choke (using hands)
     Escape from a rear choke (using arm)
     Escape from a Rear bear hug (over arms)
     Escape from a Side headlock

Relaxed 1 step against Knife:

Free Sparring against Knife:
Juyo Matsogi Dae Dando

Power Test
    a) Choice of kicking techniques. Both legs, 2 boards.
    b) Jumping Side Kick. Best Leg - 1 Board (approximate distance away: 4 to 6 feet)
    c) Punch (Male) / Palm Strike (Female) - 1 board





Hwa Rang has 29 movements. Hwa Rang is named after the Hwa Rang youth
group, which originated in the Silla Dynasty in the early 7th Century. The 29
movements refer to the 29th Infantry Division, where Taekwon-do developed
into maturity.

Ready posture for Hwa Rang is Moa Junbi Sogi 'C'  (Closed Ready Stance 'C')

Terminology for:
    a) Sonbadak Miro Makgi - Palm Pushing Block
    b) Ap Joomok Ollyo Jirugi - Forefist Upward Punch
    c) Sonkal Naerjo Taeragi - Knifehand Downward Strike
    d) Soojik Sogi (Wen or Orun) - Vertical Stance (Left or Right)
    e) Twimyo Yop Cha Jirugi - Flying Side Kick
    f) Self Defence Techniques - Hosin Sool Kyon Bon

Theory Of Power - must be able to name the six elements & describe them:
   1) Reaction Force
   2) Concentration
   3) Equilibrium
   4) Breath Control
   5) Mass
   6) Speed

The three kingdoms of ancient Korea were: Silla, Paekche & Koguryo

Must be able to describe & demonstrate all movements in Hwa Rang

Candidate must be able to describe & demonstrate all the following techniques learnt to date:
    a) All types of Sogi's
    b) All types of Makgi's
    c) All types of Jirugi's & Taeragi's performed with Ap Joomok & Sonkal
    d) All types of Chagi's
