Interviews, Biographies & Legacies - Vol. 5
Special Edition

Since its first issue, Totally Tae Kwon Do has published articles that make the magazine a multi-faceted publication. Not only has the mag published news, articles about technique, and stories explaining training and methods, the mag has featured interviews and profiles spanning the history of Taekwondo, from its infancy to the present. Over time, the magazine has become itself a historical document as it adds to the volume of information available about Taekwondo's early history as well as recent developments which have already begun to shape the future of the art.

This fifth volume collects the Interviews, Profiles & Legacies which have appeared in the magazine since early-2016. Together, these five volumes collect more than 1000 pages!

In this volume, readers will learn that the legacy of the Chung Do Kwan, one of the earliest kwans in Korea, continues in Antwerp, Belgium. They will discover the first documented Korean weapons patterns for Taekwon-Do, when and where they were developed, and that they continue to be taught and practiced today by one of the most important men in the development and distribution of Taekwondo. They will hear from Mrs. Linda Park, wife of the legendary Grandmaster Park Jung-Tae, as she discusses her husband's significant legacy in the art, her experiences as a student of Taekwon-do, the challenges of filling her husband's void in leading an international martial arts organization, and the future of the Global Taekwon-do Federation (GTF). They will also see the first public commentary about the 2nd ITF World Championships, held in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the United States, and have the opportunity to “thumb” through a copy of the official program from the historical event in its entirety (the only copy known to exist!). They will meet Alex Gillis, author of A Killing Art, a popular book which exposes the sometimes dark history of Taekwon-do, as he discusses his experiences researching and writing as he prepares for the publication of a new, updated edition. Stuart Anslow discusses his martial arts motivation, his history training and teaching, his journey as an author of multiple popular Taekwon-do books, and his decision to challenge other martial arts magazines with Totally Tae Kwon Do.

This brief list is only a small number of articles collected in this special volume. They may well alter your perspective about the art of Taekwondo.
