New Doboks and Logo Revealed for Taekwondo to Hit the Beach in Bali

New Competition, New Competitive Format, New Logo, New Doboks

Newly designed beach uniforms will  be released for all athletes that are set to take part in first-ever World Taekwondo Beach Championships in Bali, Indonesia on July 23-24, 2016.

With the competition taking place on pristine sands, under the blazing sun, with the sparkling seas forming the backdrop, the WTF launches its first batch of uniforms for those taking part.

Though the first view is only of the female competitors uniforms, the male uniforms are set to follow similar tastes.

As well as the new uniforms, a new logo has also been developed to emblazen them, making the who experience a new showcase for the sport.

“The 1st WTF World Beach Taekwondo Championships provides our athletes with a new setting, new uniforms and a new look – and we expect new stars to emerge,” said WTF President Chungwon Choue. “The event will also be a showcase for our sport the run-up to the inaugural ANOC Beach Games in San Diego in 2017,”

The inaugural championships in Bali will feature the artistic side of taekwondo: poomsae (patterns) and kyukpa (breaking), rather than kyorugi (sparring). Competition categories will be: recognized poomsae; free style poomsae; technical breaking; free style dynamic kicks; and team demonstrations.

Beach taekwondo uniforms – Swim trunks with optional sleeveless shirts for males; bikinis for females – have been designed and will make their debut in Bali. Long sleeves, tights and hijab will be permitted for those whose religion requires them. Sunglasses will be allowed. All will be adorned with the new syle logo.

The event is open to any athlete with a WTF Global Athlete License and dan or poom rank certificates as issued by the Kukkiwon, the sport’s classification body. There will two male and two female age divisions.

Twenty WTF international referees will oversee the tournament, which will be based on the modified WTF Poomsae Competition Rules and Interpretation. WTF anti-doping procedures will be followed.

The inaugural Association of National Olympic Committee (ANOC) Beach Games will be held in San Diego in September 2017.
